myHome Privacy Policy
In short: myHome doesn't collect any data. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account, and is shared only with people you invite to your household.
Information we collect
None. myHome has no server, no accounts or sign-in of its own, and no analytics. I never receive or have access to anything you enter.
Data the app stores
To work, myHome saves the following:
- Appliances: name, category, brand, model, serial number, location, notes, purchase and warranty dates, and an optional photo
- Maintenance tasks: title, category, notes, due date, when it was last done, how often it repeats, and whether to remind you
- Service contacts: name, company, category, phone number, email, notes, whether they're a favorite, and optional photos of business cards
Contacts are details you type in about people you choose to save, such as a plumber or electrician. myHome doesn't read your iPhone's Contacts app.
iCloud
myHome keeps a copy of your data in your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. This syncs it between iPhones signed in to your Apple ID and restores it if you reinstall the app. That data is stored by Apple under your Apple ID and covered by Apple's privacy policy. I can't access it.
If you're not signed in to iCloud, myHome still works, and your data stays on your iPhone.
Household sharing
If you invite someone to your household, or join someone else's, the household's appliances, tasks, contacts and photos are shared with the people in it through iCloud. Everyone in the household can see, change and delete all of it. People in a household can also see each other's names, and the email address or phone number used to invite them, as provided by iCloud. Only the people invited can open a household. You can leave, remove people or stop sharing at any time from the Household screen.
Joining a household deletes the data you had in myHome and replaces it with the shared household. The app asks you to confirm first.
Camera and photos
myHome asks for camera access only so you can photograph appliance labels and business cards. If you choose a photo from your library, the app receives only the photo you pick. It can't see the rest of your library. Photos are stored with the item they belong to, as described above.
Notifications
Maintenance reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. myHome also receives silent notifications from Apple's iCloud telling it that shared data has changed. These don't carry your data to me or anyone else.
Third-party services
None besides Apple's iCloud, as described above. myHome has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or third-party SDKs. No data is shared with me or sold, and you are not tracked. The Call and Email buttons open your iPhone's Phone and Mail apps.
Children's privacy
myHome collects no data from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
- Deleting an appliance, task or contact in the app deletes it from your iPhone and your iCloud, and from everyone's iPhone if it's in a shared household.
- Leaving a household removes its data from your iPhone. Stopping sharing or removing someone removes the household's data from their iPhone.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that iPhone only. Your iCloud copy remains until you delete it. You can do that in the app, or from Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
I have no copy of your data, so I can't recover or delete it for you.
